Lottie's Calabrian Sausage Pizza with Caramelized Onions & Mozzarella

Skip the delivery fees! This Calabrian sausage pizza brings big flavor to pizza night at home. Lottie’s Calabrian sausage, sweet caramelized onions, and fresh mozzarella sit on a spicy sun-dried tomato spread. It’s the perfect balance of smoky, sweet, and spicy!

INGREDIENTS

For the Pizza:

  • Pizza dough (fresh dough or prepackaged)
  • 1 pack Lottie’s Calabrian Ground Pork Sausage
  • Fresh mozzarella 
  • 2 yellow onions, caramelized 
  • Fresh oregano for topping 

For the calabrian chili and sun dried spread (makes enough for 2 medium pizzas): 

  • 3 oz tomato paste
  • 5 oz sundried tomatoes in oil, chopped
  • 2 tbsp raspberry preserves
  • 1/4 tsp Calabrian chilies in oil, chopped 
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic 
  • 1/2 tsp oregano 
  • 1/4 tsp salt

DIRECTIONS

  • Prepare the dough: If using fresh dough, preheat oven to 475. If using a ready made crust, follow package instructions.
  • Cook the toppings: In a pan, caramelize onions over medium low heat with 2 tbsp salted butter and a pinch of salt. Once caramelized remove from pan and set aside. In the same pan, brown the Calabrian Sausage.
  • Make the spread: To make Calabrian sun dried tomato spread, combine all ingredients listed above.
  • Build the pizza: Spread Calabrian sun dried tomato spread onto dough. Top with sausage, caramelized onions and mozzarella.
  • Bake: Bake for 15-20 min or until crust is deep golden.
  • Top with fresh oregano. Try to wait for the cheese to cool, then slice it up and enjoy!
