INGREDIENTS
For the Puff Pastry Bites:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
For the Creamy Cream Cheese Sausage Topping:
- 1 pack Lottie's ‘Everything’ Sausage
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for sautéing)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- Parmesan cheese (for grading & garnish on top)
DIRECTIONS
1. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
- Use a sharp knife or a pastry cutter to cut the pastry into small circles (about 1-2 inches per circle).
- Place the circles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush each circle with an egg wash (beaten egg) for a golden finish.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes.
2. Prepare the Sausage Bites:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Make tiny meatballs from the Everything sausage. Sear and cook through for 5-7 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Make the Cream Cheese, Onion, and Garlic Cream:
- In a medium pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter over medium heat.
- Add the finely chopped onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and translucent (about 5-7 minutes).
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes, just until fragrant. Remove from heat.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, the sautéed onion and garlic mixture, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir until smooth.
4. Assemble the Puff Pastry Bites:
- Once the puff pastry squares have baked for 10-12 minutes and are lightly golden, remove them from the oven.
- Using a spoon or knife, carefully make an indent on top of each puff pastry bite, then add a dollop of the cream cheese mixture.
- Add a small sausage meatball on top of the cream cheese mixture.
- Garnish with parmesan cheese & enjoy!!
